Down Hall wedding photography, November 2016.
Sharon and Chris got married in November last year, with the ceremony at Hatfield Heath church, and the reception at the nearby Down Hall Hotel.
I met Chris and his best man at the church first, as they turned up there suitably well prepared and early. In fact, too early – so they decided to head across the road for a cheeky drink (just to calm the nerves of course!). And they returned in plenty of time to take up their positions in the church before Sharon and her bridesmaids arrived.
Chris won’t mind me saying that the drink had only partially worked, and a few nerves started to kick in as he stood to welcome his bride. But, they soon went when he saw her:
After a lovely ceremony we had time for just a couple of photos at the church before the heavens opened. So we headed off to the sanctuary of Down Hall. Although Sharon and Chris nearly didn’t make it! As their driver turned the key in their lovely Jaguar, provided by a friend for the day, the engine decided it had enough. Luckily one of the guests was still at the church and they were able to get in to the back of their SUV. Otherwise we would have had the fun of Sharon trying to squeeze her beautiful dress in to the back of my 3-door Seat Ibiza!
Anyway, we did make it back to Down Hall, and I gave Sharon and Chris some time to dry off and catch up with their friends and family.
After half an hour or so, the weather had eased off so we went outside. It’s a lovely setting, with beautiful grounds and gardens. However, not wanting to venture far from shelter, we stayed close to the Hall. But that doesn’t matter at Down Hall, as I hope the photos below demonstrate.

Given the weather we decided not to do the few group shots Sharon and Chris wanted, inside. Again, not an issue at Down Hall where there is not only plenty of space but also beautifully ornate rooms to use.
Then it was time for the wedding breakfast. Or at least, it was once Sharon and Chris had gone round the entire room on their entrance!

After the guests were all well fed and watered, I came back for one of my favourite parts of any wedding day – the speeches. And this didn’t disappoint, the highlight being a full projector presentation from Chris’s Best Man!

I will be adding more photos from the evening celebration shortly – watch this space!
