I offer ‘Hertford Wedding Photography’ services – because I provide Wedding Photography Services, and I live in Hertford. But I suppose Sue & Steve’s wedding in May was my first genuine, complete experience of Hertford Wedding Photography as it was the first wedding I have photographed that has been entirely within my home town of Hertford!
I have photographed parts of weddings at both Hertford Registry Office and The Salisbury Arms Hotel (you can see examples of those here: Hertford Registry Office Wedding, Hertford and Harlow wedding photography). But Sue and Steve’s wedding took in both on the same day!
We started at the beautiful Oak Room at Hertford Registry Office
As a lovely surprise for Sue, her son and daughter had arranged for a beautiful vintage Rolls Royce to ensure she arrived in style.
What’s more, the car was colour co-ordinated with her beautiful dress – one which Sue had made herself for the big day.
Steve may have looked a little nervous; but the smiles soon showed during a lovely, warm, very personal ceremony.
Then it was time to properly congratulate the new Mr and Mrs Collett, in the traditional style – by chucking confetti at them!
Time for a few family photos in the lovely little courtyard at the registry office.
And then for a few of the happy couple. For Sue and Steve, this wasn’t the priority. Whilst of course they wanted a few nice shots of the two of them, the main part of the day for them was to spend time with friends and family in celebrating the happy occasion. So, we spent just 10 minutes or so after the guests had left for The Salisbury.
The Salisbury Arms Hotel is a lovely characterful place for a fairly small wedding reception – perfect for what Sue and Steve wanted.
After everyone had been fed, watered and entertained (courtesy of some great speeches), it was time to cut the cake and welcome some of Sue and Steve’s friends who arrived for the evening celebrations
And then, time for the highlight of the day – the First Dance. Unbeknownst to all the guests, Steve had spent many hours over the previous few months learning salsa dancing from scratch. It has been a hobby of Sue’s for some time, but Steve had never considered it. Under the expert (and patient, so I’m told!) guidance of salsa teachers Eddy and Goyo, and with great commitment from Steve, he progressed to reach his original objective – to surprise everyone by displaying his new salsa dancing skills in their first dance. It was a great effort, and Sue and Steve both looked perfectly at home on the dancefloor. The looks on the guests faces just topped everything off!
After the event, there were some very kind words for Eddy and Goyo – who have become great friends to Sue and Steve through the process.
It seemed everyone had got the dancing bug – I left them with Best Man Tony trying to emulate Steve!
